Chicken and Celery Stir-Fry with Rice

In Chinese, it called Ji Rou Chao Qin Cai (鸡肉炒芹菜)

Ingredients:

  • chicken
  • celery
  • ginger

Spices

  • (Chinese) cooking wine
  • soy sauce (If you could differentiate between Sheng Chou and Lao Chou, then add both, but with more Sheng Chou and less Lao Chou)
  • salt
  • white pepper powder
  • chili powder (optional)
  • corn starch

How to

  • slice the chicken to the shape and size you like
  • make a sauce out of cooking wine, soy sauce, white pepper powder, and add some chili powder if you like spicy food
  • marinate chicken slices in the sauce
  • let the marinated chicken stay in the fridge for 3 to 5 hours


  • put 2 spoons of oil in the pan, medium heat
  • slice the ginger and put in the oil
  • till you smell the nice aroma of fried ginger coming out of the pan, put the marinated chicken pieces in the pan, fry till it half cooked
  • pour the cut celery pieces in the pan and fry them together
  • make another sauce by adding salt, corn starch, white pepper powder and water
  • add the sauce to the pan and let it cook for a few minutes
